SITE DESCRIPTION

College View Middle School, built in 1995, has a student population of over 800. To maintain a balance in social and economic backgrounds, student attendance is determined from the elementary school they attended. The majority of our students live in suburban or rural areas outside Owensboro city limits.

Our staff of 59 includes two administrators, one librarian, two guidance counselors and six special service teachers. All three of our gifted talented teachers are trained in gifted talented education. The entire staff is Talents Unlimited trained and endorses the program. The school operates on a team concept within each grade level.

Through professional development opportunities and continuing higher education courses, our teachers continually strive to better themselves. Through this commitment, we provide a quality education to our students so they will have opportunities to develop relevant skills for a changing world. Our fine arts area offers keyboarding, art, music, orchestra and band. Practical arts are required in family and consumer science, technology education and career education. Co-curricular activities are in athletics, academic teams, clubs, band and chorus. Yearbook, school newspaper and video news are special offerings to 8^th graders, as well as, receiving high school credit in Algebra I and foreign language.

Our school and district provide funding for professional development through State funding and special grants. We also have a large community support system providing our students and faculty technology education through local colleges, business mentorship programs and an active PTO continually provides volunteer hours to improve our education program.
